Hi!
Finally after much deliberation I am attempting my very first travelogue. Although I have visited several countries I choose to share my experiences from Georgia (the country) to begin with.
After almost 10 months of contemplation and deliberation we were FINALLY flying to Georgia. No no! not USA. This is the Republic of Georgia neatly tucked between the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains between Turkey, Russia, Armenia & Azerbaijan.
So why Georgia most of you may wonder.
We first heard it of it through a colleague at work who like us is passionate about offbeat destinations. I don’t think i must’ve pestered my parents for a toy as a kid as much as I pestered my husband to come along with me to Georgia. But then whatever initial skepticism we had about my decision, was put to rest the minute we set foot on Tbilisi airport.

Tbilisi Airport – proudly declaring that Georgia is about to be accepted as a part of the EU

Georgia is a vast country with varied options to choose from. after a fortnight of planning we settled for Tblisi, Mtskheta, Kakheti (IMO not worth the hype, can be avoided), Mt.Kazbeg (check the weather beforehand), Mestia, Ushguli (don’t miss it), Glacier Ushba(beautiful) and Batumi.
THe most distinctive streets are located in Tblisi’s southern part, around Freedom Square. While visiting Tbilisi you should definitely visit its historical part, walk along the cobbled streets, take in the old wooden balconies and breathe Tbilisi’s sulphur aroma in Abanotubani district or cross the sky with a cable car over Mtkvari River. Old Tbilisi, with its must-see landmarks, is a place where tourists usually begin their Georgian adventure. Tblisi’s nightlife is not very intensive yet club lovers can visit trendy and cozy cafe’ restaurants, modern nightclubs and enjoy live music performances in the Old Town- at Bambis Rigi, Shardeni, Erkle II and Leselidze streets.
